Recent activity at the BBB reveals local consumers have been receiving a text message (a smishing scam) claiming they won a $1,000 Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, ETC. gift card. The text is actually an offer to apply for a loan.

Six Amarillo area businesses have been selected to receive the 2012 Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics by the BBB of the Texas Panhandle.
The Torch Awards recognizes companies that exemplify ethical business practices. The 13th annual awards luncheon will be Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Amarillo Civic Center Heritage Room. Individual tickets are available by calling 379-6834.
